Harold Fry (Jim Broadbent) is an ordinary man living in Devon with wife Maureen (Penelope Wilton) when he receives word that an old friend, Queenie, is dying in a hospice in the north of England. He goes out to post her a letter but then just... keeps walking... for 500 miles!
Harold’s journey leads him to people and places that shake him out of a glazed stupor and force a reckoning with an old trauma that has driven a wedge of sorrow between him and Maureen.
National treasures, Broadbent and Wilton, deliver phenomenally well-matched performances in this soulful adaptation of Rachel Joyce’s 2012 bestselling novel about the lengths that people will go to for each other.
