Based on the true story of WWII veteran, Bernie Jordan (Michael Caine) and his wife Irene (Glenda Jackson). Bernie secretly escapes from his care home to attend the 70th Anniversary Commemorations of the D-Day Landings, joining his fellow war veterans on a beach in Normandy, which contains upsetting scenes and moments of wartime threat.
