City kid Pietro meets rugged Bruno during an idyllic summer in the mountains of Northern Italy, sparking a lifelong friendship enriched by their vast differences. Pensive, uncertain Pietro hails from a middle-class family in Turin led by an outgoing engineer father; Bruno, raised by relatives in an alpine village, ekes out a living from the rustic region that has always sustained his family. Following a period of estrangement, Pietro (Luca Marinelli) and Bruno (Alessandro Borghi) reunite as adults struggling to escape the towering shadows of their fathers, while building a mountainside cottage which becomes a site of both reflection and reconciliation.
