About Everyman

Roman Polanski once remarked that “Cinema should
make you forget you are sitting in a theatre”. So where
can you enjoy a cinematic experience, where you can
enjoy cupcakes and chocolate raisins or swap your soft
drink for a nice glass of red wine, and where the cinema
feels almost like a home from home? This is where Everyman
steps in. We believe in creating a truly unique and
memorable cinema experience that exceeds expectations
and reaches the highest standards possible in quality,
comfort and entertainment.

Originally built as the Hampstead Drill Hall and
Assembly Rooms and later transformed into a theatre,
the Everyman cinema in Hampstead was first opened in
December 1933 and is now one of Britain's oldest independent
cinemas. As local independent cinema was being edged
out by the multiplex boom of the 1990’s, a group of
local investors rescued the cinema from receivership
and the Everyman cinema concept was reborn. Since then,
the Everyman Media Group has gone from strength to strength
and in March 2008, as part of ambitious expansion plans,
acquired the independent cinema chain Screen Cinemas.
Everyman Media Group is spearheading the revival of
independent cinema in London and the South East.

Throughout our charming venues from Hampstead and
Belsize Park to The Green in Islington, Baker Street,
Oxted, Reigate, Walton and Winchester, Everyman’s aim
is to create a warm and friendly atmosphere, with an
excellent food and drink selection and fantastic customer
service. With a wide array of mainstream, art house
and classic films, special events, launches and a diverse
calendar of promotions, there is something for everyone
at Everyman. A world apart from the multiplex experience
consumers normally associate with cinema, Everyman brings
its modern, lifestyle brand to all of our sites. The
venues offer a unique experience to customers, in high
quality, stylish environments. From premium couches,
to waiter service and to bars and stylish lounge areas,
customers are able to relax with a glass of wine or
a coffee in the venues.

Since the Screen acquisition in 2008, we have completely
refurbished Walton, Belsize Park, Baker Street and
the iconic Screen on the Green in Islington, and opened a
brand new cinema in Maida Vale, bringing our vision of an
innovative customer centric experience to the leisure and
hospitality sector.

Whilst film remains the core of the Everyman business,
we also offer a greater mix across the group with live
Met Opera performances, Q&A’s, NT Live theatre, live
comedy, sport and music events, retro films and documentaries
which enhance the experience for our customers. These
events allow us to offer an experience beyond what multiplex
cinemas can. In addition, we also have a membership
programme which offers exclusive events and priority
booking to our members.

As our brand continues to grow, Everyman will be
making our northern debut at the landmark one million
sq ft Trinity Leeds scheme which opens in Spring 2013.
The 20,000 sq ft purpose-built complex with three screens
and private screening rooms will be Everyman Media Group’s
first venue outside of London and the South East. The
boutique cinema, which will be opening alongside leading
fashion brands in a destination served by a stylish
new café/restaurant quarter, looks set to boost the
24-hour economy of Leeds.
