Everything You Need To Know...

Passion, Obsession, and the Moors

Emerald Fennell (Saltburn) turns her eye to Emily Brontë’s gothic classic in a bold new adaptation arriving at Everyman 13 February 2026 – a Valentine’s release that promises anything but a traditional love story. Stepping from contemporary satire into windswept period drama, Fennell brings her signature blend of intensity, sensuality and razor-sharp character work to one of the most enduring romances in English literature.

Fennell has made no secret of the scale of her ambition for "Wuthering Heights". In early interviews, she’s said she hopes the film strikes viewers with the same emotional force as Titanic – a sweeping, all-consuming love story that defines a generation. For Fennell, this isn’t simply an adaptation but an opportunity to make an immersive, heart-rattling cinematic event: the kind of romance audiences return to time and again.

Margot Robbie stars as Catherine Earnshaw, torn between the security society expects of her and the connection she can’t shake with Heathcliff. Jacob Elordi takes on the role of Catherine’s lifelong counterpart - a brooding, magnetic outsider whose bond with her blurs the line between devotion and destruction. Their chemistry has already been called “epic” and “breathtaking” by Elordi himself, and early footage hints at a pairing driven as much by impulse and volatility as by longing.

The film has already generated conversation - from its striking first poster with the tagline “Come undone” to a trailer set against a new Charli XCX soundtrack, promising a version of "Wuthering Heights" that leans into obsession, desire and the wildness of the moors. It’s a campaign that signals exactly what Fennell intends: an adaptation that feels visceral & sensual.

Fennell’s adaptation isn’t a polite period romance – it’s a fierce, modern-minded take on one of literature’s most tortured relationships, reimagined with cinematic heat, bruised emotion and a contemporary pulse. Expect windswept passion, sharp edges, and a love story that doesn’t soothe so much as consume.
