A24 pairs two of Hollywood's most magnetic stars, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, in The Drama, a romantic black-comedy arriving at Everyman on 3 April 2026.
Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli (Dream Scenario) and produced by modern-horror maestro Ari Aster (Midsommar), this is definitely not your traditional walk down the aisle. The film follows Emma (Zendaya), a grounded literary clerk originally from Louisiana, and Charlie (Pattinson), a sophisticated, slightly buttoned-up British museum director. They are a seemingly perfect, deeply in-love couple finalizing the last-minute details for their picturesque Boston wedding. But just days before they say "I do," a shocking revelation from Emma’s past bubbles to the surface, throwing their entire relationship into a surreal, uncomfortable tailspin.

Borgli brings his signature brand of razor-sharp, anxiety-inducing humor to the classic rom-com formula. He specializes in a very specific kind of cinematic discomfort, perfectly balancing nervous laughs with raw emotional depth. As Charlie struggles to reconcile the woman he thought he knew with the reality sitting across from him, the film asks the ultimate relationship question: do we ever truly know the people we are about to marry?
The supporting cast is stacked with A24 favorites and rising stars, including Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie, and Succession's Zoë Winters as a wedding photographer trying desperately to capture a happy couple that is rapidly unraveling.
With electric, off-balance chemistry between Zendaya and Pattinson, The Drama promises to be a highly stylish, brilliantly provocative cinematic event. Expect a story that walks the razor-thin line between heartfelt devotion and total delusion, serving up the kind of romantic tension that will leave you breathless. You might just want to rethink that RSVP.

To build early buzz, A24 bypassed traditional press releases. Instead, they bought ad space in The Boston Globe right next to the newspaper's real-life romance advice column, publishing a mock engagement announcement for Emma and Charlie that cleverly revealed the characters' backstories to unsuspecting readers.
