What you need to know...

Marvel’s first family is finally making their long-awaited debut in the MCU.

Fantastic Four: First Steps brings a bold, fresh take on one of Marvel’s most iconic teams, blending retro sci-fi flair with modern blockbuster spectacle. Directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision), the film reintroduces Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm with an all-star cast and a distinctly stylized vision that sets it apart from anything Marvel has done before.

Pedro Pascal leads the team as Reed Richards (aka Mister Fantastic), a brilliant scientist whose quest for knowledge sets the story in motion and whose intellect may be both his gift and his greatest flaw. Vanessa Kirby stars as Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, smart, poised, and powerful in her own right. Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) plays her younger brother Johnny, aka the Human Torch, bringing fiery charisma and reckless energy. And rounding out the team is Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm, the tough, loyal friend turned rock-covered powerhouse known as The Thing, a reluctant hero grappling with what he’s lost and what he still has to protect.

Set against a stylized 1960s-inspired backdrop, Fantastic Four leans into the cosmic, pulpy roots of the original comics, think space-age tech, interdimensional travel, and mysterious forces lurking at the edge of the universe. There are hints the story may unfold in a corner of the multiverse separate from the current MCU timeline, adding intrigue to how this team will ultimately connect with the larger Marvel world.

But at its core, this is a story about four people bound together by accident, learning how to become a family while facing threats that could tear the world apart. Expect a mix of humour, heart, and head-spinning visuals, with Shakman’s creative direction promising something that feels both nostalgic and entirely new.

Did you know?

This is the third live-action Fantastic Four reboot but the first time the team is appearing as part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is expected to lay the groundwork for major future MCU storylines, with strong rumours of appearances from classic villains like Galactus and Doctor Doom.
