It takes a certain kind of person to have a dog in New York City, especially a 180-pound Great Dane with a mind of his own. Iris (Naomi Watts), a solitary writer living in a small West Village apartment, isn’t that person. She’s content with her quiet routines, her work, and the company of books.
But when her closest friend, the charismatic and complicated Walter (Bill Murray), leaves behind his beloved dog Apollo, Iris unexpectedly becomes the one responsible. As she steps into Walter’s tangled legacy- complete with ex-wives, unfinished projects, and a towering canine companion -she begins a journey that’s equally frustrating, funny, and unexpectedly healing.
