Based on the 2016 novel by Robert Harris, Conclave is a 2024 mystery thriller directed by Edward Berger, and tells the story of one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events – selecting the new Pope.
After the unexpected death of the Pope, Cardinal-Dean Thomas Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is forced to put aside any grief and is tasked with putting together a conclave and running the covert process of selecting a new Pope. Cardinal Lawrence (Fiennes) gathers the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders from around the world, including the US candidate Bellini (Stanley Tucci), Tedesco (Sergio Castellitto), a more traditional Italian. A more powerful American, Tremblay (John Lithgow), the increasingly popular Nigerian Adeyemi (Lucian Msamati) and the mysterious contender Benitez (Carlos Diehz), who has been working in Kabul.
However, once they are all locked together in the halls of the Vatican, Lawrence (Fiennes) uncovers a trail of deep secrets which could shake the foundations of the Roman Catholic Church. Conclave stars Ralph Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Sergio Castellitto.
