The city of Zootropolisis wilder than ever!
9 years after Zootropolis (2016), Walt Disney Animation Studios and directors Jared Bush & Byron Howard, are taking viewers back into the wild world of Zootropolis.
Following on from the events of the last film (Zootropolis, 2016) and the relationship between mismatched friends - Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) and Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin). Having recently graduated from the police academy, Nick and Judy have become partners, however, they are struggling to navigate the differences in their crime-solving styles, and feeling the pressure of Chief Bogo’s (Idris Elba) lack of faith in their work…


However, they need to put their differences aside when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a new and mysterious snake named Gary (Ke Huy Quan), who has somehow infiltrated the reptile-free animal city of Zootropolis. In order to crack one of the most perilous and intricate cases of their careers, Judy and Nick must go undercover into new and undiscovered parts of town where there is a reptile population of the city living as a hidden underclass.
Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, and Shakira reprise their roles from the first film with other beloved supporting characters returning to the sequel. Joining this all-star returning cast are newcomers Ke Huy Quan, Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Patrick Warburton, & Quinta Brunson.
Did you know?
Zootropolis 2 will be the first film in the franchise to feature birds, reptiles, amphibians, primates, and marine animals, expanding beyond the all-mammal cast of the original.
Shakira is reprising her role as Zootropolis pop star, Gazelle, and will be performing an original song in the film. Written with Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin, the song is called “Zoo” and was featured in the Zootropolis 2 trailer.
Zootropolis 2 being Disney's next movie was hinted at by an easter egg of Gary the Snake being one of the woven tapestries in the credits of Moana 2.
