What you need to know...
Madness, conspiracy, and truth.
Yorgos Lanthimos returns with a wild, darkly funny remake: Bugonia. Starring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Alicia Silverstone, and Stavros Halkias, it’s a sci-fi black comedy satirising our obsession with conspiracy, paranoia, and what we believe about power.
Stone plays Michelle Fuller, a ruthless CEO of a major company. Teddy (Plemons), a beekeeper haunted by his own grief, becomes convinced she isn’t just a business leader but an alien hell-bent on destroying Earth. With his cousin Don (Delbis), Teddy storms into her life, kidnapping her, shaving her head (to block “cosmic interference”), and putting Michelle in a bunker, all to uncover the truth he thinks saves humanity. But of course, nothing stays simple.

Bugonia is adapted from the 2003 South Korean cult sci-fi classic, Save the Green Planet!, with Will Tracy (known for Succession, The Menu) writing the new screenplay, and Emma Stone and Ari Aster among its producers.
With Lanthimos’ signature off-kilter style, Bugonia leans into absurdity and tension in equal parts: the grotesque, the conspiratorial, and the strangely human. Michelle’s captivity is both horrifying and darkly funny, Teddy’s delusions feel dangerous yet pitiful, and through it all, Bugonia asks: how much madness is born from grief, and how much from the world pushing us too far?
