Secrets, class and chaos take over at Everyman this December
Directed by Paul Feig (known for A Simple Favor and Bridesmaids), 'The Housemaid' is a high-stakes psychological thriller arriving at Everyman on 26 December 2025.
Sydney Sweeney stars as Millie, a woman desperate for a fresh start who takes a live-in job at the lavish Winchester estate. Amanda Seyfried plays Nina Winchester, the glamorous but deeply troubled matriarch who welcomes Millie into her home and into a web of lies and buried secrets. It isn’t long before Millie begins to suspect that something sinister lurks behind the family’s perfect facade.

The cast also features Elizabeth Perkins, Brandon Sklenar (It Ends With Us), and Michele Morrone (Another Simple Favor). Both Sweeney and Seyfried serve as executive producers, marking their first collaboration together.
Early footage hints at an eerie, high-gloss domestic setting, part show home, part prison. The trailer, released in September, features Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song “Please, Please, Please”, its lyrics underscoring the film’s themes of deception and desire.
Adapted from Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel and written for the screen by Rebecca Sonnenshine, The Housemaid plays with ideas of class, power, and identity, and what happens when the help knows too much.

Although best known for comedy, Paul Feig steps into darker territory here, calling The Housemaid “a domestic thriller with teeth.” Both Sweeney and Seyfried have described the shoot as “intense but exhilarating,” with Seyfried saying she “couldn’t tell where charm ended and manipulation began.”
